The brief
A traditional Orange County home with painted casings, panelled walls and tall windows in narrow proportions. The owners wanted daytime privacy without losing the garden view, and a single fabric language that could move from the living room to the bedrooms.
Our solution
We specified Vignette Modern Roman Shades throughout. The folds stack evenly and sit flat when lowered, so the two windows flanking the fireplace read as a matched pair. In the living areas the fabric carries a soft grey ground with a muted metallic block pattern; the bedrooms take quieter solids in grey and charcoal for deeper shade at night.
Inside mounts keep the painted casings and the panelled wainscoting fully visible. Where drapery panels already framed the window, the shades were sized to sit cleanly within the opening so the two layers never compete.
The result
Light arrives filtered and even. Raised a few inches, the shades hold the view of the courtyard and olive tree while keeping the room shielded from the street. Lowered fully in the bedrooms, the rooms go quiet and dim without hardware on display.
