The brief
The living room opens to a full wall of sliding glass with a coastal view. Light arrives all afternoon and flattens the room. The owners wanted the view kept intact, with a way to soften glare and add warmth to tall, quiet walls.
Our solution
We specified custom drapery in two layers. Ivory sheers run the full width on a single black rod, pleated evenly so the folds stay upright and the horizon reads through the fabric. Deep pewter panels sit at each end, lined and weighted, ready to draw across for evening. The same hardware and pleat detail continue into the dining area and the guest room's French door, so the house reads as one composition.
The result
Closed, the sheers turn hard sun into an even wash of light. Open, the panels stack tight to the jambs and the doors slide clear to the courtyard. Stone floors, white upholstery and dark accents now have a fabric line that holds them together.
