Layered Drapery in an Irvine Dining Room

Custom drapery with sheers and teal side panels in a dining room

A wide slider and a second patio opening called for softness without darkness. Sheer pinch-pleat panels filter the afternoon sun while patterned teal drapery frames each opening.

The brief

The dining room opens to the backyard through a wide slider, with a second glass opening on the adjacent wall. Direct afternoon light washed the table and the view from outside was unfiltered. The homeowners wanted daytime privacy and softer light, while keeping the garden green visible.

Our solution

We specified custom drapery in two layers. Full-width sheer pinch-pleat panels run the length of each opening, hung on bronze-finish rods with rings so they traverse easily. Patterned drapery in deep teal frames the main slider, picking up the greens of the plantings and the existing shutter trim.

  • Made-to-measure sheer panels with tailored pinch pleats
  • Patterned side panels in teal, floor-length with a slight break
  • Bronze-finish rods, rings and matching finials
  • Measured and installed to align with the crown line

The result

Light now arrives diffused and even, so the table reads warm rather than glaring. The sheers close for privacy without shutting off the yard. Drawn back, the teal panels give the room a defined frame and a quiet note of colour against the neutral walls and white oak floor.
