The brief
A newly finished kitchen in Newport Beach, wrapped in pale stone with brushed brass fixtures. The owners wanted privacy at the sink and control over the afternoon light at the adjoining slider, without adding visual weight to a very quiet material palette.
Our solution
We specified Hunter Douglas Designer Roller shades in a soft white textured fabric across all three openings. Each shade was measured for an inside fit so the roll sits tight to the stone reveal, with a slim cassette that reads as part of the ceiling line. The same fabric runs from the two sink windows to the wide sliding door, so the room reads as one continuous surface.
The result
Lowered, the shades screen the view and soften daylight into an even wash across the countertop. The brass faucets keep their shine without glare, and the stone backsplash holds its tone. Raised, the hardware all but disappears.
