The brief
A wide sliding glass door opens the living room to a terrace. Bare, it left the room exposed after dark and offered nothing to soften the hard edges of glass, metal railing and dark wood floor. The owners wanted coverage that felt architectural rather than decorative.
Our solution
We specified Custom Drapery in an oatmeal textured weave, made to measure and fabricated with pinch pleats for an even, disciplined fold. The rod was mounted high and extended well past the door frame, so the panels stack on the wall and leave the glass clear during the day. A matte black rod with simple ball finials and centre supports carries the full width without sag.
- Made-to-measure panels, pinch-pleat heading
- Break-length hems finished to the hardwood floor
- Matte black rod, extended width for clean stackback
- Full draw for evening privacy across the slider
The result
Drawn, the fabric reads as one continuous plane and quiets the room. Open, the panels sit at the edges of the opening and the terrace view returns. The neutral tone keeps the walls and floor in balance, and the black hardware ties back to the railing outside.
