The brief
The living room opens to a two-story window wall, with an upper window set above a wide lower window. The scale was generous but bare. Afternoon light came in hard across pale upholstery and stone floors, and the room needed softness without losing the view to the pool and trees.
Our solution
We measured for custom drapery panels tall enough to read as a single gesture from crown moulding to floor. Pinch-pleat headings were fabricated in a deep pewter fabric that grounds the warm neutral walls. A slim metal rod with simple finials was mounted high and wide, so the stack sits against the wall rather than over the glass. Tiebacks hold each panel in a clean diagonal sweep, drawing the eye up the full height of the room.
The result
The window wall now has weight and proportion. Light is filtered at the edges instead of flooding the seating area, and the view of the water and garden stays uninterrupted. In the evening the panels close for privacy and quiet.
