Velvet Drapery in an Irvine Living Room

Custom drapery panels on a brass rod in a paneled living room

A wide living-room window wall dressed in pinch-pleat velvet drapery. Warm taupe panels hang floor-length on a slim brass rod, softening the light and grounding the room's pale wall paneling.

The brief

The living room is a quiet architectural shell: tray ceiling, applied wall paneling, dark oak floors. A single wide window wall carries most of the daylight. The owners wanted that light softened and the evening view closed off, without adding visual weight to the room.

Our solution

We measured the full wall and fabricated custom drapery in a warm taupe velvet, hung as a centre-split pair. Pinch pleats are spaced evenly so the folds stack in a consistent rhythm across the span. The panels break just at the floor.

  • Made-to-measure velvet panels with hand-formed pinch pleats
  • Slim brass rod and rings mounted high and wide, close to the crown
  • Centre-split pair with a full stack-back clear of the glass

The result

Drawn, the velvet absorbs light and reads as a single soft plane against the pale paneling. The brass hardware is the only bright line in the composition. Open, the panels stack to either side and the room returns to daylight.
