The brief
A modest casement window sat alone on a tall living room wall in Newport Beach. Midday sun came in hard and flat, and the opening looked small against the height of the room. The owners wanted softness and proportion without closing off the view to the garden wall and young trees outside.
Our solution
We specified Custom Drapery in a warm cream fabric with a subtle sheen that picks up the light rather than reflecting it. Pinch pleats hold an even rhythm from heading to hem, and the panels break just at the stone floor. A slim black rod with simple end finials runs well past the window on both sides, so the stack sits on the wall and the glass stays clear when the panels are open.
The result
The window now reads as a full wall of treatment rather than a small opening. Daylight arrives filtered and warm through the cream fabric, and the dark hardware gives the pale room a quiet line. Drawn closed, the panels bring privacy and a calmer, more enclosed feel for the evening.
