The brief
This bedroom in Irvine has two windows on adjoining walls — one standard, one tall and narrow. The room is small and newly finished, with pale walls and light oak-toned flooring. The owners wanted a treatment that would not visually crowd the space, and that would handle daytime privacy without darkening the room.
Our solution
We specified custom shutters for both openings, measured individually so each frame sits square inside its recess. The louvers are finished in a clean white that reads as part of the trim rather than an added layer. Tilt the louvers and light rises to the ceiling; close them and the room turns private without going dark.
The result
The narrow window now reads as a deliberate architectural detail instead of an awkward gap. Louvered light falls across the wall in soft bands through the afternoon. With nothing hanging into the room, the floor plan stays open — useful in a bedroom of this size.
